About West Glacier
A community at the heart of Montana's wilderness
Our Story
West Glacier is a small unincorporated community that serves as the western gateway to Glacier National Park. Nestled in the Flathead National Forest, our community has been welcoming visitors to this pristine wilderness for over a century.
Founded in the early 1900s with the arrival of the Great Northern Railway, West Glacier has grown from a remote outpost to a vibrant hub for outdoor enthusiasts. Despite our growth, we've maintained our small-town charm and deep connection to the natural world that surrounds us.
Today, West Glacier continues to be a launching point for adventures into Glacier National Park and the surrounding wilderness areas. Our community is proud to offer warm hospitality, local expertise, and all the amenities needed for an unforgettable Montana experience.
